On 3 July 2017, Ms Allberry contacted Amber to say that her Employment Support Allowance, Housing and Council Tax benefits were stopped on 24 May, pending an Appeal received on 4 July. Naturally the loss of these benefits caused extreme stress and debts to accrue. Amber wrote to the Department for Work and Pensions and her staff kept emailing the DWP pressing for updates. On 4 August, the DWP contacted Ms Allberry to say that her benefits have been restored and include the missed back payments.
Ms Allberry said: “We couldn’t be happier and all of this without the tribunal even taking place!! I would just like to say a massive thank you for all of your hard work and help in trying to sort this matter out and for staying in contact throughout this long haul of fighting for what was right. I can’t say thank you enough. You were such a fantastic support and help. Eternally grateful."
