As part of Hastings Old Town Carnival Week, Amber Rudd MP visited Penbuckles Delicatessen who were hosting the ‘Guess the weight of the cheese tower’ event. Penbuckles are a delicatessen located in Hastings Old Town on 50 High Street. They specialise in cheeses, charcuterie, wines, and coffee. For Old Town Carnival Week, Penbuckles assembled a giant cheese tower in their shop window and asked local residents to guess its weight for 50p.
The huge cheese tower was presented with various types of cheese and Amber chose to take part in the fun and have a guess. The winner of the competition will have their photograph displayed in the shop’s window on carnival day.
Amber said: “Events like this highlight our town’s great character and what makes it so unique. The Old Town Carnival Week is full of fun activities where everyone can get out and enjoy.
“Although I have no hope of winning, guessing the weight of the tower was good fun and it is great to help support the independent shops that line our high street.”
