House buyers Charlotte Gray and Bruce Steadman celebrated today as they became the first buyers to complete on a new home at The Park Lane Group’s development in Hastings called ‘High Breezes’.
They were greeted at their new property with a celebratory hamper and welcome from Amber Rudd, MP for Hastings & Rye. Amber Rudd visited the development to find out more about the new homes, along with Jane Griffiths from Help to Buy South East and Sue McGreevy and Juliette Hay from The Park Lane Group.
Amber Rudd commented: “It was wonderful to meet Charlotte and Bruce today and share in their excitement of moving into their first new home. I’m delighted to hear how Help to Buy made this possible for them.”
The young couple, who are both from Hastings and are first time buyers, purchased the new 2-bedroom home via the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme. Having saved a 5% deposit and arranged a 75% mortgage with the Nationwide Building Society, Charlotte and Bruce used a 20% equity loan from the Help to Buy scheme which is interest free for the first five years.
Charlotte, a graphic designer who works for Mineral creative agency in Brighton, and her partner Bruce, who works for the Nationwide Building Society, said “It’s great to be holding the keys to our first home.
“We bought off-plan before any of the houses were built so it took a bit of vision, but we were impressed by the specification of these Park Lane Group homes. Having all the built-in kitchen appliances and so many fittings included in the house price was a real bonus. It has helped financially and means we have a home that’s ready for us to move straight in to.”
Local Homes for Local People by Local People – The development by The Park Lane Group will provide 79 much needed new 2 & 3 bedroom houses in Hastings when it is completed next year. It is a great local success story, with over 80% of the construction team working on-site living within 8 miles of the development which is, in turn, providing quality new homes in the town and attracting local buyers.
Sue McGreevy, MD of The Park Lane Group commented, “We’ve had a lot of interest locally in the properties, with every house in Phase 1 (comprising 36 houses and 2 show homes) being sold before construction has been completed.
Of these, 17 exchanged off-plan and 5 are proceeding via the Help to Buy scheme. With house prices starting from just £166,950 currently and more than £14,000 worth of fittings and appliances they represent outstanding value and are appealing to first time buyers, families and couples. We look forward to starting Phase 2 this Autumn.”
