Isn’t it fantastic to see Christmas decorations up in our towns and the shops around us? The debate rages on in my house as to when the Christmas tree goes up – the earlier the better, I always think!

I firmly believe that everyone in our towns should feel comfortable and safe – this starts with ensuring order and peace within our communities. Sussex Police do a great job keeping our streets safe, but there are always challenges for the police as they cannot be in all places at all times.

Pier to open for Christmas

Hastings Pier will continue to be the envy of Britain following its refurbishment, according to local MP Amber Rudd.

Her comments come after she received assurances from Hastings Pier owner Abid Gulzar that the landmark would reopen in the coming days following a fire.

Amber was hosted by Gemselect where she saw for herself some of the 109 new and refurbished properties being built in Decimus Burton’s St Leonards

Amber celebrates Small Business Saturday in Hastings & Rye

Small businesses are the backbone of the Hastings economy, local MP Amber Rudd declared after purchasing some Christmas presents in local stores.

Amber visited Hastings high street and welcomed the enormous contribution small businesses make to the community.

Good news: All smoke, no fire

On Saturday 24 November, a fire broke out on Hastings Pier in the middle of the main Pavilion Restaurant. East Sussex Fire and Rescue attended the scene and extinguished the fire, the cause of which is suspected to be an accidental electrical malfunction.
