Good transport links to our towns are key for jobs, investment, and growth. This is why I have made it one of my priorities as the MP for Hastings and Rye to try and improve our transport services, which simply have not been good enough in the past.

It’s that time of year when it is back to Parliament for the MPs and back to school for my younger constituents! We certainly all have a busy September ahead of us and it is going to be no different for our towns.

After a great deal of anticipation and waiting, over the past two weeks, students across the country have received their A-Level and GCSE results. We have had good results across Hastings and Rye and our students should be proud of their achievements.

2018 has been a year for record-breaking and I am not just talking about the weather! We have seen unemployment decrease to the lowest rate since 1975, which indicates we have a strong economy both locally and nationally.

Our community is home to many fantastic places to socialise; from bustling bars to unique pubs with fantastic character, there is certainly no shortage of places for people to enjoy themselves after a day at work.

Everyone will remember the tragic deaths which occurred at Camber Sands beach almost 2 years ago. In 2016, seven men drowned off Camber Sands beach: two men in July and five men in August.

As our summer approaches, more and more people show their appreciation for our beautiful pier.  We had quite a crowd on it last weekend for the May Day bank holiday! Like other residents I enjoy it all year round.

The local elections are on the horizon, and here in Hastings we have the chance for change. On 3 May, it is important everyone gets out to vote – and I hope many will share my enthusiasm for a new Hastings Borough Council!
