The Government announced its new ambitious housing white paper ‘Fixing our broken housing market’ on 7 February with the Communities and Local Government Secretary, Sajid Javid, unveiling the plans to the House of Commons.

Last Friday the Hastings and Rye MP, Amber Rudd, visited the Hastings branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau to meet with volunteers and staff at their workers meeting.

Hastings designated DfE ‘Opportunity Area’

Today the Education Secretary, Justine Greening, announced that Hastings will become an Opportunity Area, an initiative by the Department for Education, which has been extended to include another six areas totalling twelve across the country.

MP Opens Conquest Coffee Shop

Last Friday, Amber Rudd, the MP for Hastings and Rye visited the 1066 Café and Bakery at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings to officially open it after weeks of renovations.

MP’s Christmas Tree-t

Hastings & Rye MP Amber Rudd dropped into a Christmas tree festival in All Saints’ church in Hastings Old Town on Saturday (17th December).

The event was held to help raise funds for the Two Towers Trust, the charity which supports the two mediaeval churches in the Old Town.
