Last Saturday on 21 July, the Rt Hon John McDonnell MP visited Hastings as part of a tour to visit “left behind towns”. It is Parliamentary Convention to alert the incumbent Member of Parliament if another MP chooses to visit their constituency on a public matter.
On 13 July, Amber Rudd MP and local fishermen met with the Secretary of State for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, to discuss how the industry would be affected following Britain’s departure from the European Union.
Amber Rudd MP attended a meeting with Chris Paine of Martello Developments Ltd in Rye to discuss Martello’s exciting new plans to redevelop the town’s Rock Channel and adjacent land. Martello is a local development partnership founded by David Kowitz.
Last Friday, Amber met with Cllr Keith Glazier, Leader of East Sussex County Council, who led her on a tour of the newly refurbished Hastings Library. Hastings Library, Brassey Institute in Claremont, reopened to the public on Friday 2 March 2018.
Local MP Amber Rudd is supporting a campaign run by charity The Reading Agency to encourage all primary school children to take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, which launches across England and Wales on Saturday 14 July (although regional variations may apply).
