Last Friday on 28 September, Amber Rudd MP for Hastings and Rye held her eighth Jobs Fair since becoming the MP in 2010. The fair was held at Sussex Coast College and saw around 40 stalls engaging with roughly 400 local residents to provide information on the kinds of opportunities they offer.
Organisations who attended ranged from local businesses such as Marshall Tufflex and Let’s do Business Group, to larger organisations such as Sussex Police and even corporations such as Boots and McDonalds.
Speaking on the success of her eighth Jobs Fair, Amber said: “I was so pleased to see many organisations running stalls at my fair and showing what great opportunities there are for local residents. While unemployment has reached a 43 year low, I am always eager to try and put local residents in touch with those who can help, for example if someone wishes to change careers.”
“It is good news that due to measures taken by Government, recent statistics show that wages are rising faster than prices here in Hastings. This is why I am excited by what the future holds for Hastings and I hope everyone enjoyed attending my eighth Jobs Fair.”
