MP sees splendid sofas ‘Made in Hastings’

Amber Rudd MP visited the factory and newly launched trade showroom of Collins and Hayes last week and was given a guided tour by Managing Director Matt O’Flynn.

Collins and Hayes has been successfully designing, developing and manufacturing upholstered furniture of the highest quality for over 140 years. Based in Hastings they offer a wide and wonderful choice of beautifully designed and styled products and currently sell their ranges in major retailers including John Lewis as well as smaller independent stores and via their own website.

Their hand crafted frames and their handmade upholstery are all manufactured right here in Hastings and their large collection of fabrics and leathers are specifically selected and sourced from all over the world to enhance and compliment their furniture.

Amber said: “I was delighted to visit Collins & Hayes and see first-hand our thriving manufacturing industry in Hastings as well as the splendid array of sofas on display. It was encouraging to hear of Matt’s ambitious plans for the company’s future, his commitment to skills and apprenticeships and support for our recently announced National Living Wage.”

Matt O’Flynn said: “Collins and Hayes were delighted to have the opportunity of showing Amber the new facilities in our factory and engage in how the company can engage more with the community. It was also a good opportunity to explain how the industry we are in works and what we need to grow”.

Collins & Hayes are always looking for new talent, specifically they are currently recruiting sewing machinists. If you are interested or would like to find out more then please visit their website
