Hastings Pier will continue to be the envy of Britain following its refurbishment, according to local MP Amber Rudd.
Her comments come after she received assurances from Hastings Pier owner Abid Gulzar that the landmark would reopen in the coming days following a fire.
Speaking after a meeting with Hastings Pier owner Mr Abid Gulzar, Amber said:
“So many constituents and local people have asked when the pier they love so much will re-open, so I was pleased to hear that Mr Gulzar is working tirelessly to have it open in a few days time.
“The pier is the perfect place to enjoy some downtime over Christmas and the businesses around there do so much for the community.
“I was pleased to be hosted by Mr Gulzar to hear about his plans for the pier to go from strength to strength.”
Hastings Pier is temporarily closed following a recent fire breaking out on the pier in the middle of the Pavilion Restaurant.
The cause of the fire was suspected to be caused by an accidental electrical malfunction connected to the underfloor heating. This wiring was installed as part of the pier’s restoration.
