Last week, Amber welcomed Gary Shipton, Editor of the Hastings Observer and Editor In Chief of Sussex Newspapers to Parliament to help her judge the entries for her 2018 Christmas Card Competition.
This year, Amber received a large amount of designs for her competition. The winning design will feature as her annual Christmas card which is sent out to individuals in her constituency as well as to members of the Government. This year’s winner is Ashton from year 7 at Ark William Parker Academy.
The winner will also be taken to Parliament to enjoy a tour of the Palace of Westminster later in the year. Commenting on the winner’s design, Amber said:
“It was particularly tough to choose a winner for my 2018 Christmas card competition as there were so many good entries this year. I have never had to choose so many runners up, which shows the high standard of artistic talent from Hastings and Rye.
I look forward to welcoming Ashton to Parliament to meet with me and enjoy a tour of the Palace of Westminster. To those who didn’t win this year, I hope you will try again next year!”
Gary Shipton said he was delighted to help judge the annual Christmas card competition:
"The entries were all of an incredibly high standard - creative, artistic and capturing both the spirit of Christmas and the unique magic of Hastings.
"As a result, it was a tough decision - but Ashton produced a card that was as elegant as it was festive."
