Local MPs react to emergency Southern timetable

Local MPs Amber Rudd, Member of Parliament for Hastings and Rye, and Huw Merriman, Member of Parliament for Bexhill and Battle, have reacted with concern following Southern’s announcement that it will institute a new timetable from next week in response to ongoing staffing issues.

United in memory of those killed in service

On Monday I sat in an emotional and reflective House of Commons chamber which was full, save for one member. We were united in tribute to Jo Cox, Member of Parliament for Batley and Spen, and we heard moving speeches from the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and her closest friends and colleagues in Parliament.

Joint Statement on Industrial Action on Southern Railway by Amber Rudd MP and Huw Merriman MP

This severe disruption makes travelling on Southern services a misery for our constituents. It’s unacceptable and we call on the rail unions to end their wholly unacceptable ongoing dispute with GTR over the introduction of Driver-Only Operation (DOO) on more Southern services. We urge GTR to do more to improve the reliability of passenger’s journeys during this period.
